Inbound (Story)

From digital zero to engineering hero.

Diversified Plastics had a website. Aprios needed a story engineers would actually trust.

APR_h_d_r_fullcolor_rgb_1200px@72ppi-1
The Problem

Aprios needed to connect with their customers.

The stale Diversified Plastics site talked about itself and had no functional answers to real questions from engineer's.

We reformed everything around one question: what does an engineer need to believe to make Aprios the obvious choice for their manufacturing partner?

The Strategy

Their website become a super helpful resource for engineers.

We pursued every question in Medical Device Injection Molding and offered helpful answers to engineers seeking information.

We built a technical library that accumulated depth and became what search engines (and AI answer engines) recognize as authority.

Initial Results

We hit publish on the new aprios.com and saw and initial lift.

The initial launch saw a +37% bump in organic traffic, and a +46% increase in direct traffic; totaling about 600 sessions per month initially.

But that wasn't enough for us.

Pipeline impact

More than 2 leads per month, at over $114k per deal.

18 months later, the blog pulled in ~13,000 sessions, and organic traffic climbed to 1,192 sessions a month: (up 164%).

Because our site's content spoke to a specific audience, we were automatically filtering for genuine project intent, and the traffic we earned converted better.

Three channels.

Three deals .

That foundation of quality site traffic kept paying out in big ways.

Use the slider to learn about three inbound leads, each worth over $1M in qualified pipeline value.

$3.4M Organic Search Lead

Friday evening, an engineer at a medical device manufacturer ran a Bing search that surfaced a page from Aprios's technical library — no ad, no prior contact, just an organic click after hours.

That one visit became a $3.4M pursuit (the largest inbound deal in Aprios's history).

illustration set_direct traffic

$1.2M RFQ via Direct Traffic

A Supply Chain Manager arrived at Aprios' website via direct traffic — no ad, no referral link, just someone typing the URL straight in.

That visit turned into a $1.2M RFQ that moved because we responded in under 13 minutes (not 13 hours).

illustration set_paid search

$1M Deal via Paid Search

A Product Designer needed to move his injection molding production and clicked a paid search ad from Aprios, then watched two product videos before engaging the chatbot to start the conversation.

That chatbot conversation converted into a $1M qualified opportunity (the largest paid-driven win Aprios has seen).

Nick didn't just bring us empty website traffic. He built a system where the right buyer finds our website and is encouraged to convert into a lead.

Outbound — Strategy

A summary of our success in generating pipeline through direct outreach and closing large, successful projects in enterprise CRM consulting.

DC logo Horizontal-Tagline-Full-Color

The ask was never really about the CRM.

Demand Chain's clients rarely came in asking for exactly what they needed in a CRM solution. They came in with pain points: needing sales, marketing, and customer service to stop working around each other. Adoption failed because People/Process/Technology weren't aligned.

This is also where our CRM philosophy first took shape — the idea that a CRM is where strategy should live, not die, and that most CRM failures are philosophical, not technical. The largest deal closed was a $1M+ CRM optimization program, sourced from cold email prospecting.

Outbound Prospecting

$25M in enterprise pipeline.

Strategy gets you in the room.

Story is the why they stay.

Most outbound is landfill. "Just circling back." "Wanted to bump this up." An ask, dressed up as a check-in, sent to a hundred people who'll never open it (the sales equivalent of leaving a voicemail and calling it a relationship). Nobody breaks through by asking harder. They break through by being worth answering.

Done well, outbound and inbound aren't separate. The Story you tell in a cold outreach sequence is the same reputation working in your favor before someone finds you.

$3M via Direct Mail

It started with a short, hand-written letter and a small package of company SWAG, followed by an email — not a cold pitch, a slow build meant to earn a reply.

It worked: she agreed to a meeting where she opened up about several initiatives she'd been wanting a vendor for, and that conversation grew into $3M in generated opportunities.

illustration set_direct traffic

$10M RFQ from Email Sequence

An email sequence earned a reply: "that email was good, I'll give you 15 minutes — what's your cell, I'll call you now." On the call, the elevator pitch was blunt: two of his competitors down the street on Wall Street did $30M in business with us, and he'd want to know why.

That call turned into a $10M RFQ (earned in 15 minutes, not 15 meetings).

illustration set_paid search

$6M After months of Outreach

Months of persistent outreach to a VP at a large bank — a perfect fit, and neighbors in the same office building — finally led to a facility tour, where he told us: "thanks for being so persistent."

That visit turned into $6M, as he opened up about a sweeping tech upgrade initiative and handed us more stakeholders to meet.

Other outbound wins.

conference

Sold-out event.

200+ tickets sold to a medical device conference through social and segmented email nurture, with sponsorship sales layered on top, earning $80K in total event revenue.

email series

$138k from one email.

A series of nurture emails reactivated a dormant Aprios contact, leading to a $138K quote. Buyers are activated by the right content at the right time.

Revops (System)

RevOps — System

The variable that turns the other two from a good quarter into a trajectory.

APR_h_d_r_fullcolor_rgb_1200px@72ppi-1

Complexity was the enemy.

Making our customer's buying journey easier simplified the way we do business. Content, chat, quoting, onboarding, and the CRM underneath all of it were designed as one system that connected us to our customer, and our internal departments to each other. That's the flywheel logic the inbound methodology: Story, Strategy, and System aren't separate teams' jobs, they're stages that make buyers want to work with you.

Scattered efforts can produce a great quarter on their own, but systems keep the inertia so we don't need to re-invent the wheel every time.

A 97% faster speed-to-quote (and a 300% increase in deal size).

The legacy custom quoting process was capable, but so slow it came with a hidden cost.

We streamlined and simplified the process to make it easier for the customer (and our internal team).

  • Quote turnaround dropped from an average of 2.75 days to under an hour (97% faster).
  • Average order value rose from around $250 to a $1,000+ minimum, roughly a 300% increase.
  • We sped up Quote-to-Cash from 14 days to collecting payment before work started (the accounting team bought us lunch for that one.

300% increase

A workflow that runs itself

An archaic system so bad that a customer called us to complain that he wanted to go to a competitor because our MNDA and New Customer paperwork were such a pain to fill out.

The fix: a chatbot now handles a fully automated e-signature workflow (built in PandaDoc). Our internal team never had to  remind our customers to sign, avoiding tedious back-and-forth. Completed documents synced  and routed themselves internally, no hunting for the signed contract.

Send-and-initiation time dropped to minutes. Complaints were replaced with unprompted compliments about how polished it felt.

The Rebrand that Didn't Stop at a New Logo

As Diversified Plastics became Aprios, we turned a special occasion into a rollout. From hosting a two-day, two-facility video and photo shoot that yielded 8 brand videos and 80+ short-form clips that told the story over the course of 6 months.

The rebrand extended to Aprios's Minneapolis lobby, updating and branding the space to engage visitors during their site visits. The space welcomed visitors with their own customized logos on a digital display, paired with photos from Aprios' 50-year history.

Less time wasted (and happy customers)

97% Faster

Every small 3D printing job used to get its own custom quote. We rebuilt it as a platform model: anything that prints, one flat $1K minimum. Speed to quote dropped 97%, from 2.75 days to under an hour.

300%

Increase in average order value of prototype jobs, starting at $250 and increaseing to $1,000+ because of a newly implemented minimum order amount, roughly a 300% increase after the change in selling model.

14 Days to 0

Accounting used to spend two weeks tracking down a single invoice, after the work was already committed. We moved payment up front, ahead of the order itself using HubSpot/Stripe integration to process.
